Barangay History
Barangay History
Milibili traces its name form the Spanish colonization in the Philippines. According to stories, there was a man who was considered a leader of the place. The Spaniards were interested to buy portions of the land in the area and approached the village leader. When asked by the Spaniards on the cost of their land, the village leader replied, "Mga mil gid ang bili sini" (This land costs millions). The Spaniards kept on coming back to negotiate for a lower price but every time he is asked for a cost, the village leader kept on saying, "Mga mil gid bili sini". From those conversations, the Spaniards started calling the place "Milibili" from the local words "mil" which means millions and "bili" which means cost. Later on, the name Milibili was adopted and became the official name of the barangay.
